Mr. Burgess received his Bachelor of Science Degree with Cum Laude honors at California State University of Sacramento (1998), and was admitted into the Alpha Phi Sigma and Golden Key National Honor Societies. Mr. Burgess received his Juris Doctor from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law (2002). He graduated near the top of his class with Distinction and was admitted to the Roger J. Traynor Honor Society. During law school he participated in the Department of Justice, Office of the Attorney General Honors Program, where he worked in the Criminal Appeals and Writs Division. In 2008-2011, Mr. Burgess received the BV designation by his peers recognized for very high legal ability and ethics for attorneys with less than 10 years of experience. He is a member of the State Bar of California; the United States District Court for the Eastern District; the State Bar Real Property Law and Business Litigation Sections; the Shasta-Trinity Counties Bar Association; the International Association of Defense Counsel Trial Academy Alumni Network, and a past member of the Association of Defense Counsel for Northern California and Nevada. In 2004 Mr. Burgess served as Vice President of the Shasta-Trinity Counties Bar Association. Mr. Burgess resides in Shasta County with his wife Robyn Pope-Burgess and their son Noah-James. In his spare time, he enjoys bicycling and fly-fishing. He is a member of the Rocky Mountain Elks Foundation, Trinity Chapter; a life member of the Shasta County Secret Society of the Rats; a member of the Shasta-Trinity Fly Fishers Association, and a volunteer attorney coach for the Youth Violence Prevention Council's Peer Court Program. Mr. Burgess has also attended numerous organizational functions as a guest speaker on matters affiliated with real estate, title insurance, escrow, and appraising. Publications:
