Tamara L. Wood is a partner with the firm of Maire & Beasley with a practice emphasis on insurance defense and civil trial litigation. Her focus is on employment law and personal injury in both state and federal jurisdictions.
Ms. Wood received her Bachelor of Arts degree at California State University at Chico in 1992 where she was on the Dean's List and became a Certified Paralegal. She received her J.D. from Cal Northern School of Law in Chico, California in 1997.
Throughout college and law school, Ms. Wood worked full time as a manager for a national retailer. Having nearly ten years of management experience prior to becoming an attorney, Ms. Wood has a unique understanding of the issues facing California employers. Ms. Wood advises and represents employers throughout California ranging from small businesses to national corporations. A significant portion of her work involves advising employers on everyday employment issues such as wage and hour law. Ms. Wood also represents clients in disputed claims or lawsuits and has represented her clients before the Division of Labor Standards Enforcement, The E.D.D., the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Department of Fair Employment & Housing, and in both federal and state courts.
Ms. Wood is a member of the State Bar of California, the Shasta-Trinity Counties Bar Association (including Secretary/Treasurer of the Shasta-Trinity Bar Association in 1999), Association of Defense Counsel, and Association of Defense Counsel of Northern California. She has been a keynote speaker for several legal associations including; Association of Defense Counsel, Lorman Education Services and California State Legal Secretaries Association.
In her spare time, Ms. Wood enjoys spending time with her husband and two children enjoying the recreational activities of Northern California including running, snow skiing, camping and attending various sporting activities. She also keeps busy volunteering and contributing to numerous organizations including; Foothill Area Little League, Palo Cedro Youth Soccer, Boy Scouts of America, American Cancer Society, Relay for Life, Wings of Angels, North Cow Creek School and Neighborhood Community Church.
